People ‘Looking For Romantic Getaways’
A significant number of Britons are hoping to be whisked away for Valentine’s Day, new research shows.
In a study carried out by PayPal, more than a quarter (27 per cent) of people said they would like to be treated to a weekend away this Valentine’s Day. The same proportion, it was revealed, just want to be surprised. Furthermore, just over one in ten (11 per cent) dream of having a romantic dinner, with jewellery wanted by four per cent of those surveyed. Those wanting an iPhone and iPod this February 14th account for four and two per cent of respondents respectively. Meanwhile, traditional gifts such as flowers and chocolates are still desired by some, making up five and two per cent of consumers’ wishlists.
For those looking for a competitive way to finance purchasing a luxury break, expensive jewellery or an electronic gadget to surprise their loved one, taking out a cheap loan could be advisable.
Research from the payment solutions company revealed that 74 per cent of those who are in a relationship will get a Valentine’s Day card - the most popular gift to be given. Meanwhile, more than half (58 per cent) are to be treated to a romantic meal, with a quarter of people in a couple due to receive jewellery. The study also indicated that 16 per cent will get an electronic gift, such as a personal music player.
However, it is not just Britons with a significant other who will get gifts over the course of this week. According to PayPal, 69 per cent of singles are to be given a card on February 14th, with over half of such people getting flowers. In addition, entertainment - such as a trip to the cinema - and gift vouchers account for 27 and seven per cent of treats people who are not in a relationship will get.
Commenting on the figures, Cristina Hoole, spokesperson for PayPal, said: “It’s nice to see that Brits really are hopeless romantics, who don’t want to just be dazzled by expensive chocolates and flashy gifts on Valentine’s Day. It seems it is still the simple things that work and what we all want - even if we are single or as part of a couple - is to spend the evening with the person we love. To make this February 14th really special, wannabe romantics should heed the warning and make sure they spend time with the person they love, or they could end up getting the cold shoulder on the day of romance.”
With the big day taking place later this week, those looking to fund getting a lavish treat for their heart’s desire may wish to consider applying for a fast loan. Taking out such a UK loan may allow borrowers to meet the costs of an expensive holiday or jewellery quickly and effectively. The extra money a loan provides could also help consumers to meet other constraints on their finances such as household bills and council tax repayments. However, before making an application it may be advisable for people to make sure they are getting a loan with a competitive rate of interest. Last month, uSwitch reported that by switching from expensive deals to cheap personal loans Britons could save more than 1 billion pounds every year.
